Our athlete Florian, biathlon and cross-country skiing guide for Anthony Chalençon, who is blind, got the season off to a good start with the first stage of the World Cup in Canmore, Canada. He won three medals in para-biathlon with his partner: a silver in the sprint pursuit and two bronze medals in the sprint and individual events. The objectives set were achieved: to apply the guiding techniques perfected during preparation, to gauge themselves against the competition, and to finish on at least one podium.
The second stage of the World Cup, in Notschrei, Germany, was more difficult for the two athletes, with less than ideal weather conditions and a track that did not favor blind athletes. Given these conditions, Florian and Anthony remain satisfied with their results in biathlon: fourth in the individual event, fifth in the sprint pursuit, and sixth in the sprint. In Finsterau, despite finishing 7th in the open relay, the pair achieved a very good skiing time, demonstrating their excellent physical condition.
The final stage took place in Poland, where the athletes finished 8th in the sprint and 7th in the individual event: results below their expectations due to difficulties at the shooting range.
